Xp Mode

Just upgraded to win 7 pro, and thought i will install xp mode. Then found my cpu does not have the virtualisation extensions so the xp mode will not install. It also looks like the old virtual pc 2007 has been blocked from installing on windows 7.

Then found that vmplayer seems to have a xp mode importer :)

Creating Apps for Phones

After a chat on Saturday night with a mate i thought i would have ago at writing an application for my aging Nokia N70 phone.
The result is a Mobile Java Application that calculates the VSWR and Return Loss from the forward and reverse power figures (normally used to check the performance of transmission aerials ).
This was also the first time i have tried writing anything in Java beyond the exercises in Tutorials.
I used the Netbeans 6.5.1 IDE to write and test the app.
Once i find some space i might post the application incase anyone else is interested.

Isoview and Windows XP 64 bit edition

found a slight bug with ISOview today that when used on a 64 bit XP machine to view a .cgm file the MIME or CLISD must be included using either an object or embed tag, loading the cgm file using a frame or iframe tag does not work.

If this is not included either a blank screen is shown or the user to prompted to select a viewer.

Using a frame in 32bit windows works fine. i guess it is something to do with how the cgm filetype is register when isoview is installed.

UPDATE: HMMM seems it does like : in URLs either,
